Skilled in herbal remedies, she was both respected and feared by villagers. One evening, a mysterious boy with coal-black eyes offered her power to protect her family in exchange for her loyalty. Desperate, Demdike accepted a black stone, gaining heightened abilities but at a cost. Her granddaughter Alizon’s curse on a peddler sparked accusations of witchcraft. Demdike and her family were arrested. In her damp cell, weakened and betrayed, she refused the boy’s offer to renounce her family for freedom. Before her death, she cursed her accusers, her spirit lingering on Pendle Hill. Her story became a haunting reminder of injustice, her whispers carried by the wind, ensuring her legacy endured. This is the first in a series of seven audiobooks in the series and I do hope you enjoy this first instalment, and it's only $3, all subsequent will remain at that price.I have worked very hard to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes plus, called Haunting Elegy, uses flute and harp to set the scene of witches living life as they could. The closing music ends in a sad way, called Melancholy same instrumental at nearly 3 minutes as the fate that befalls these innocent people awaits them.! The story itself runs to about 15 minutes, and and is narrated in my own voice. The Book itself is divided into parts, Opening, The Gift and Curse, The Pact, The Downfall, The Final Curse and Epilogue.

The Dane Who Changed the Course of the Second World WarOn the 28th May 1940 President Franklin D. Roosevelt placed a direct call from the White House to William S. Knudsen, Director of General Motors Corporation in Detroit. At General Motors he quickly rose in the ranks and became CEO of the company, with 250.000 employees reporting to him. William S. Knudsen was a key figure in Washington during the war, and as a three-star general, he helped turn the tide in the Allies’ fight to defeat Hitler and the Japanese.OLE SØNNICHSEN is a Danish author and trained journalist from the Danish School of Journalism and San Francisco State University. THE GIRL BROWNIES – ASHDOWN FOREST, ENGLAND 1919Book 3 of 6 The Secret of the Whispering WoodsThe summary of this third book in the series is as follows:In October 1919, the Brownies—Lulu, Minnie, Lottie, Agatha, Bernadette, and Beryl—embark on a moonlit meteor-watching hike in Ashdown Forest. Their adventure takes a supernatural turn when whispers guide them to a hidden stone circle, where eerie phenomena unfold: cracking monoliths, sentient mist, and ghostly visions. With archaeologist Dr. Eleanor Finch, they uncover the circle's secrets—an ancient Druid observatory using piezoelectric stones and sound channels to create "ghostly" projections.Deciphering Saxon clues, the girls find buried crown jewels tied to King Harold, while scientific explanations (infrasound, ley lines) blend with local folklore about whispering spirits. Minnie's discovery of a royal artifact proves the stones guarded Harold's lost treasure. Though science explains much, the forest's final whisper—"More secrets await..."—hints at deeper mysteries.I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music, “Joyful Journey”, which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, recorder, tambourine, guitar and accordion in a folk/classical and cheerful mood. The closing music, “Bloom”, ends the tale on with more of the same at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments etc. but more of an ending feel and looking forward to the next story in the series. The story and music itself runs to just about 14 minutes and is narrated in my wife's voice, Claire, who actually was a ranger guide! I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to comeChristopher Allen - At your service

The Pendle Witches England 1600'sBook 3 of 7 Elizabeth DeviceThe books are fictionally based on the true names and part facts of seven of the accused witches involved being sentenced to death mostly, although innocent, and is as follows:Elizabeth Device, a struggling widow in 1600s Lancashire, fought to protect her family after her daughter Alizon was accused of cursing a peddler. As whispers of witchcraft grew, Elizabeth's world collapsed—her mother, Old Demdike, died in prison, and her son James spoke recklessly of spirits. A family gathering at Malkin Tower was twisted into tales of a witches' sabbath by fearful neighbors. The final blow came when Elizabeth's nine-year-old daughter Jennet, likely coerced, testified against her in court, describing imaginary familiars and curses. Despite a spectral dog's offer of freedom in exchange for Jennet's life, Elizabeth refused to betray her child, even as the noose tightened around her neck. On August 20, 1612, she was hanged at Lancaster Castle, her dying words a curse not on Jennet, but on the injustice that turned daughter against mother. Her story endures as a haunting reminder of the Pendle witch trials' cruellest betrayal. This is the third book in a series of seven audiobooks and I do hope you "enjoy" ,might not be the appropriate word, this third instalment, and it's only $3 dollars.I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes plus, called Haunting Elegy, uses flute and harp to set the scene of witches living life as they could.

The "Homer Box Set: Iliad & Odyssey," translated by W. H. D. Rouse and presented in an illustrated edition, offers readers a captivating journey through two of the most significant works in Western literature. The "Iliad," set against the backdrop of the Trojan War, explores themes of heroism, honor, and the tragic consequences of rage through the story of Achilles, the greatest Greek warrior. The epic begins with Achilles' wrath against Agamemnon, the leader of the Greek forces, and unfolds the tale of love, betrayal, and the quest for glory, ultimately leading to the fall of Troy. In contrast, the "Odyssey" follows the adventures of Odysseus as he attempts to return home after the war. His journey is fraught with challenges, including encounters with mythical creatures, divine interventions, and the trials of loyalty and perseverance. This epic not only highlights Odysseus' cleverness and bravery but also delves into the themes of homecoming and the human condition. Rouse's translation is celebrated for its accessibility and lyrical quality, making these ancient texts resonate with contemporary readers. The illustrated edition enhances the experience, providing visual representations that bring the stories to life and offer insight into the rich cultural context of ancient Greece. Together, the "Iliad" and "Odyssey" form a foundational cornerstone of literature, influencing countless works across genres and eras. This box set serves as an essential collection for anyone interested in the origins of storytelling, the complexities of human emotions, and the timeless exploration of fate and free will. Whether a first-time reader or revisiting these classics, the "Homer Box Set" invites readers to immerse themselves in the epic tales that have shaped the literary landscape for centuries.

The Pendle Witches England 1600'sBook 5 of 7 Alice Nutter The Silent Lady of RoughleeThe books are fictionally based on the true names and part facts of seven of the accused witches involved being sentenced to death mostly, although innocent, and is as follows:Alice Nutter, the dignified Catholic widow of Roughlee Hall, became an unlikely victim of the 1612 Pendle witch trials. Unlike her impoverished co-accused, Alice was a wealthy landowner targeted for her discreet charity and suspected recusant faith. Falsely implicated by child witness Jennet Device, she refused to defend herself at trial to protect vulnerable tenants who could alibi her. Offered spectral escape in prison, Alice chose martyrdom over flight, declaring: "I will not run." On August 20, 1612, she was hanged without speaking a word in self-defense, her silence preserving both her honor and others' safety. Today, her statue in Roughlee memorializes this tragic injustice—a gentlewoman sacrificed to superstition and political vendettas. Local legend claims her ghost still walks Pendle Hill, a silent witness to history's cruelty.

The Pendle Witches England 1600'sBook 7 of 7 James DeviceThe books are fictionally based on the true names and part facts of seven of the accused witches involved being sentenced to death mostly, although innocent, and is as follows: James Device, the quick-tempered but imaginative youngest son of the infamous Device witch clan, used his gift for storytelling to navigate the harsh realities of 1612 Lancashire. His tales of spectral black dogs and forest spirits, once told to entertain his young sister Jennet, became damning evidence when magistrate Roger Nowell twisted them into a forced witchcraft confession. After his grandmother Demdike's death in prison and his mother Elizabeth's arrest, James' angry words to a neighbor about a sick cow were recast as magical curses. His own invented character - a familiar named Dandy - sealed his fate when interrogators weaponized his imagination against him. At the Lancaster trials, even Jennet's coached testimony condemned him. On August 20, 1612, the 18-year-old's final shouted protest of innocence was drowned by the crowd as the noose tightened, making him the tragic embodiment of how creativity could become fatal in the witch panic hysteria. This is the final book in a series of seven audiobooks and I do hope you enjoyed ,(might not be the appropriate word, them, and only 3 dollars each.the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes plus, called Haunting Elegy, uses flute and harp to set the scene of witches living life as they could. The Pendle Witches England 1600'sBook 6 of 7 Anne RedferneThe books are fictionally based on the true names and part facts of seven of the accused witches involved being sentenced to death mostly, although innocent, and is as follows:Anne Redferne, the gentle daughter of notorious witch Chattox, lived a life overshadowed by her mother's dark reputation in Pendle Forest. A skilled herb gatherer devoted to raising her young daughter Marie, Anne's quiet existence shattered when a neighbor accused her of cursing his crops. Though innocent, Anne was condemned by her mother's damning witchcraft confession and the testimony of child witness Jennet Device. In Lancaster Castle's dungeon, she received a vision: a golden wheat field promising peace beyond suffering. On August 20, 1612, Anne walked silently to the gallows, her final thoughts of the daughter she would never see again. Unlike her defiant mother or wealthy co-accused Alice Nutter, Anne met death with bowed head - a poignant symbol of ordinary lives destroyed by witch hysteria. Her story, often overlooked in the Pendle trials, reveals how fear could transform quiet poverty into "evidence" of witchcraft. This is the sixth book in a series of seven audiobooks and I do hope you enjoy ,(might not be the appropriate word, this instalment, and it's only $3 dollars.the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes plus, called Haunting Elegy, uses flute and harp to set the scene of witches living life as they could.
